So I thought that I would post this to the blog and see what the rest of the family thinks we should do. I am not saying that your opinions will have much weight when it comes to the final decision but I am looking for other outside opinions.
I am currently enrolled in school as an art major. My specific degree title at this point is Integrated Studio Art. For the real world this a Bachelor of Art degree. I am looking of applying to the BFA or Bachelor of Fine Arts program. In the real world these two degrees really don't mean much to potential employers. My current concern is that I want to get into and finish a BFA but I am not sure if it will really help me out in the real world. I will now proceed to list the good and bad of each degree.
B.A.- (GOOD) I won't have to spend an extra $2,000 to finish this degree and I can still minor in Photography. I can minor in art ED and get a teaching certificate. (BAD) I will have a harder time getting into a masters program.
B.F.A.- (GOOD) Easier time getting into masters programs if I need to. May give me more credit to the more artsy jobs. (BAD) I will need to take out a student loan to pay for all the costs. Doesn't guarantee a better paying job out of college then a BA degree.
Now this really isn't a comprehensive list of all that is good or bad with each degree but I think it hits the main points. There are also family issues and school issues that I haven't included to keep things less complicated.
Suffice it to say that I am really torn as to which I want to do but I think I know which way I am leaning. Please e-mail me or facebook me what you think. Thanks.
Look at the size of those cheeks!
